Work on a shoring system at the Salesforce Transit Center at Fremont Street between Howard and Mission streets continued today and will continue into early next week, moving the scheduled reopening date of the one block closure. The street will reopen to traffic and the public on Wednesday, October 17, 2018.

San Francisco, CA – The Transbay Joint Powers Authority (TJPA) announced today that work on a shoring system beneath the Salesforce Transit Center at Fremont Street between Howard and Mission streets continued today and that Fremont Street is scheduled to reopen by October 12, 2018 in time for the morning commute.

San Francisco, CA – The Transbay Joint Powers Authority (TJPA) announced today that crews continued their work throughout the night to assess and test steel beams and prepare the site for a shoring installation at the Salesforce Transit Center.

San Francisco – The Transbay Joint Powers Authority (TJPA) announced today results of initial inspections to steel beams at the Salesforce Transit Center and efforts underway to open Fremont Street and the transit center as soon as safely possible.

San Francisco – There are several transit and traffic impacts due to the temporary closure of the Salesforce Transit Center and the closure of Fremont Street between Mission and Howard, particularly during peak commute hours.

San Francisco – Crews today discovered a fissure in one of the steel beams in the ceiling of the third level Bus Deck on the eastern side of the Salesforce Transit Center near Fremont Street.

San Francisco - The Transbay Joint Powers Authority (TJPA) announced Monday that a court ruling last week may require the TJPA to pay in the future just a fraction of the legal costs sought by Mission Street Development (MSD), the developer of the sinking and tilting Millennium Tower. 

Mayor London Breed, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi and regional, state and federal leaders joined the TJPA to celebrate the completion of the new Salesforce Transit Center.

The TJPA announced that the Salesforce Transit Center officially opens to the public at Noon on Saturday, August 11, 2018 with a Neighborhood Block Party, with inaugural Transbay bus service by AC Transit and others beginning August 12, 2018. The TJPA also announced that nearly half of the permanent retail spaces are in lease.

The TJPA has selected a multidisciplinary team led by Lincoln Property Company as the Asset Manager to operate and manage the Transbay Transit Center. The 1.2-million-square-foot, state-of-the-art regional transit facility in downtown San Francisco is scheduled to open in 2018.

The allegations of the Millennium Tower developer, Millennium Partners (MP), concerning the impact of the TJPA’s construction on the Millennium Tower are not accurate.

There is no evidence to support Millennium Partners’ claim that the TJPA’s dewatering is the cause of the excessive vertical settlement and tilting of the Millennium Tower.  Millennium Partners’ geotechnical engineers predicted that the Millennium Tower would settle vertically a maximum of 5.5 inches 20 years after completion.  In April 2011, when the TJPA removed the timber piles supporting th
