Nila Gonzales

Nila Gonzales joined the TJPA in June 2005.  As Chief of Staff, she has multiple roles and responsibilities including managing strategic initiatives and overseeing operations of the TJPA.  She also serves as an Officer of the Board as Secretary and she served as Interim Executive Director from September 2020 to January 2022, guiding the agency through a pivotal transition.  Her dedicated career in public service spans over 25 years.  Her experience includes serving as the Mayor's Director of Scheduling for the City and County of San Francisco (City), working with the City’s Department of Children, Youth, and Families, and building a successful career with the San Francisco Chronicle.

A San Francisco native who raised her two children in the City, she is passionate about fostering innovation while preserving the City's unique character and community spirit. For her, the Transbay Program represents the limitless potential of her hometown, and she takes immense pride in delivering San Francisco's newest iconic landmark.  Ms. Gonzales is personally involved in the community and served, from 2017-2025, as Board Director and Treasurer for the Young Women’s Freedom Center.
