San Francisco, CA — Today, the Transbay Joint Powers Authority (TJPA) Board Chair Jeff Gee and Executive Director Adam Van de Water provided the following statement to recognize and honor Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi following her announcement of retirement from Congress.
“Thank you, Speaker Emerita Pelosi, for nearly four decades of passionate and transformative leadership on behalf of San Francisco. Monumental infrastructure requires power, passion, and a steady hand and Speaker Emerita embodied all these qualities for the Transbay Program. It is a legacy we are proud to have memorialized in the foundation of the multimodal Salesforce Transit Center and we look forward to honoring it by completing The Portal connection,” said Adam Van de Water, TJPA Executive Director. “Speaker Emerita Pelosi’s vision and advocacy were instrumental in shaping the Transbay Program, which created the Salesforce Transit Center and expanded downtown into a new transit-oriented neighborhood with 15,000 new residents, seven acres of new parks, thousands of new jobs, and cemented San Francsico as a national model of innovation and resilience. On behalf of the TJPA, I extend our profound gratitude for her unparalleled service to San Francisco and the nation and wish her the very best in her next chapter.”
“On behalf of myself, Vice Chair Rafael Mandelman, the Board of Directors, and the TJPA staff, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Speaker Emerita Pelosi and her dedicated staff,” said TJPA Chair Jeff Gee. “With her steadfast leadership, we delivered the Transbay Program, and we remain honored to continue her work to connect the two-level trainbox to the Caltrain and future California High-Speed Rail systems via The Portal.
